The SCHJA Horsemanship Award is a perpetual award given in honor of the late Willie Locklear that will be awarded annually to an individual who lends their time, hard work, knowledge and love for horses to the local equine community. This person is someone who does not necessarily receive recognition ringside, but who is a driving force behind the scenes of our local farms and whom without, our trainers, horses and riders could not be successful.
This award was donated in 2013 by friends of Willie Locklear, who was just such a person in the Columbia, SC and surrounding area.
